Do Something Big Recruitment Campaign
The new national recruitment campaign for early years and the childcare sector has been launched; Do something BIG. Work with small children.
This campaign will shine a light on the great careers available in the sector and recognise the lifelong impact childcare professionals have on children during their most formative years. It will run across TV, cinema, social media, online, radio and billboard advertising. Please promote the campaign through your channels and use the hashtag #dosomethingbig on social media.
A new website has been created
https://earlyyearscareers.campaign.gov.uk/ for people to find out about working in early education and childcare and the qualifications available, discover how uniquely rewarding early years and childcare careers can be, and search for vacancies via the DWP Find a Job platform.
Please share these messages at a local level and will soon be sharing the ‘Do something Big’ communications toolkit. It contains information and resources to help communicate the campaign messages and amplify recruitment activity.

What our Parents Say!
Our little girl had only really spent time with family before our move to Bulford and she struggled with separating from us following covid. The Haig surrounded her with love and she has grown so much in confidence in the year she has been there. All of the staff know her and welcome us like extended family each day. I feel so confident in my choice as a mummy and early years teacher to send her to The Haig. Wonderful staff, great practice in place and a lovely, warm atmosphere.
The Haig has a wonderful homely family atmosphere, all staff are always so positive, friendly and wonderful with the children- and parents! We feel our child is safe, and gets excellent emotional and developmental support.
I would like to say a massive thank you to you and your team for looking after our daughter and us! You helped us in so many ways you’ll never know and we are so very thankful. I knew from the very first meeting that The Haig was THE place for willow because your focus was on her. The place feels like a family and I hope it continues in that way, serving the community for many years to come.
We just wanted to drop you a note to say a huge thank you for taking care of our daughter. It is pretty clear they adore being at nursery and that’s all thanks to you. Its not just about looking after her (although you have been superheroes in that department) but also about the hard work and care you’ve put into making the nursery a special place.
Thank you for all you have taught me and for your patience with my enthusiasm. Whether that’s in the garden, telling stories or sharing the bikes…. Love your Pocket Rocket.
Thank you so much for all you have done for our son since he joined the Haig. I have always been happy and confident he would be well looked after by the amazing team and we will miss you all so much.
We love the Haig, our son was here for 3 years and had the best time. We all watched him grow up and develop into the little boy that he is now, the staff are incredible and it really feels like you are handing your child over to family. The team were always on hand if we needed to amend his routine and provided support through times of change (husband deployed and the arrival of his sister). The Haig provides a safe and exciting environment for little minds, we now have a very confident and inquisitive little boy that has started his journey on to school. Without hesitation his little sister (12 months) joined the nursery and absolutely loves the environment, she happily waves and smiles when we drop her off and gets excited when she sees her key workers - it has been a really easy transition for all of us. This nursery communicates regularly with updates of what the children have been doing and are always on hand (in person, on the phone or email) if you ever need to speak to someone - would highly recommend.
